My Story – Taken directly from my previous blog posts between 2012/13
On the 9th September 2010 I attended Chemmart Chemist in Broken Hill, New South Wales and asked to join Kate Morgan which is a protein shake based weight loss programme.
I was 151.8 kg
16 Sep 2010 : 146.9 kg
23 Sep 2010 : 143.6 kg
30 Sep 2010 : 142.6 kg
I plateaued out big time after that and went up and down a few kilograms over the next few months
17 January 2011 : 134.5 kg
27 January 2011 134.4 kg
23 February 131.3 kg
Come 20 April 2011 I managed to get down to 128.5 kg in May 2011 before slowly putting weight back on again
I was strict while on the diet having 2 shakes for breakfast and lunch and a salad or veg for my main meal.
Nothing seemed to happen after I plateaued. I changed my main meal to breakfast, I changed it to lunch, nothing seemed to work.
I went off Kate Morgan for a month (exactly 1 calendar month) and then went back on it, but nothing seemed to happen. I thought that if i went back to my old eating habits that my body would kickstart the burn again once I went back on KM. It wasn’t to happen. I increased my walking also from 5.5 km every 2nd day to 10 km every second day (work permitting) and yet, nothing.

In January 2012, I was so frustrated with my lack of weight loss.
I was now hovering around the 140 kg mark, I was still walking on my days away from work (around 15 km per week) and still on protein shakes.
I began the paleo diet 1st of February 2012 and was strict on that diet.
The paleolithic diet (abbreviated paleo diet or paleodiet), also popularly referred to as the caveman diet, Stone Age diet and hunter-gatherer diet, is a modern nutritional plan based on the presumed ancient diet of wild plants and animals that various hominid species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic era—a period of about 2.5 million years duration that ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture. In common usage, such terms as the “Paleolithic diet” also refer to the actual ancestral human diet.
Centered on commonly available modern foods, the “contemporary” Paleolithic diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed pasture raised meats, vegetables, fruit, fungi, roots, and nuts, and excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils. There are many different alternatives that are available to replace the foods that have been eliminated. For example, coconut oil can be substituted for butter, almond flour can be substituted for white flour, and honey can be substituted for other sweeteners. (wikipedia)
With this diet structure, I felt emptier, felt lighter, but nothing was showing on the scales. I stuck to the Paleo diet for 3 whole months and while I loved eating bacon, I saw no results at all in the weight loss area.
In early July I went to get a blood test for thyroid, liver function and a bunch of other things… I placed all my chips on a thyroid problem so that I could simply take a pill and will be back to losing weight.
The results came back with perfect blood.. damn it. Back to square one.
My GP sent me to see the nurse that he has in his practice for weight loss/diet management.
Our 1st session she laid down the law about what I am supposed to eat, what im not supposed to eat, how much water to drink, to start exercising.. etc etc..
I let her have her say, then I hit her with everything Ive done for the last 2 years. She was shocked that everything she has told me to do, I -am- doing.
Over the next few months I had to write down everything I was eating and drinking. One week I had to eat more apples, had to eat less food, had to stop eating some foods, eat more other foods, eat more fibre, eat less fibre… really, I was pushed from here to there and as the dates and weights below demonstrate, I was putting on weight again.
19th July 2012 : 137 kg
2nd Aug 2012 : 139.3 kg
30 Aug 2012 : 142.7 kg
6 Sept 2012 : 141.5 kg
13 Sept 2012 : 141.6 kg
20 Sept 2012 : 142.5 kg
On the 20th September, I took in information on Duromine to the nurse and she said that taking drugs wasn’t the answer.. I disagree. Her diet requirements seemed to have NO difference.
I haven’t updated my story for a while, so thought I would type up a few things from the last 10 months.
Today is 22 September 2013.
Anytime Fitness is a 24 hour gym. It opened its doors in Broken Hill around the 20th December 2012 and I was one of the 1st to pay for membership. In the first 4 months of the year I would go after work (3am) and run my guts out, or get on the elliptical trainer and burn 1000 calories within an hour.
My weight was slowly dropping.

On April 17th I started on weight lifting and all of a sudden started actually seeing some results. My arms, legs and stomach were finally looking like they were doing something. Combined with joining Herbalife on the 15th of May I managed to drop down to between 130 and 133 kg
The frustrating part is, now its over 110 days later and I am still stuck again at 130 kg
All the lifting, running, cycling, calorie counting, step counting is keeping me at the same weight.
I have been on all sorts of potions and pills, diets and exercise regimes. I dont know where this story will end, but, its a life in progress. A story yet to be finished.

Wow, it seems like forever since I’ve posted a blog entry. Who’s still here?
Over the next few weeks I will become more active again, and this site will see a few changes happening. Health-wise, I’m still fat, but down to 124.4kg as of this morning, and no muscle. Maybe I will go back to the gym, maybe I won’t. Either way, I’m still on this health kick of mine… 4 years 5 months after I started.
Just a quick update :
- I’m walking 5 km most mornings
- I’m eating spinach and veg omelettes most mornings courtesy of my chooks
- I’m drinking 3-4 litres of water per day
- I started Sisel Thermolean 500 this morning
- My shirts are tighter due to more fat, less muscle
